International Women's day celebration with my Charity / Celebración del día Internacional de la Mujer

Yesterday was the International Women's Day (IWD) and with my Charity we went to visit The Geffrye Museum, where we could see the evolution of the inner design of the houses in England from 1600 until now.

We arrived in the museum at 11.00 am and we was visiting each room until 12.30 pm. It was very interesting because everything was organized in a very didactic way... each room showed a drawing room from a different period (organize by ages), there was an explanation of the cultural period and other of the uses of that room. For children they had a special explanation with questions&answers and for everybody there were panels in each room where appeared the background from the furniture and theirs characteristics. We went to this museum because many of the people have recently arrived in London and we though this was a good way to introduce them in English culture.

After visited the museum we had lunch something in gardens beside the Geffrye Museum, because each one has cooked something for sharing. It was a good moment to know better each other and talk about our things. After the lunch we had a a little get together and we return to our houses.

Ayer fue el día Internacional de la Mujer y en mi ONG fuimos a visitar el Geffrye Museum, donde pudimos ver la evolución del interiorismo en las casas inglesas desde 1600 hasta la actualidad.

Llegamos al museo a las 11.00 de la mañana y visitamos cada sala hasta las 12.30. Fue muy interesante porque todo estaba organizado de una forma muy didáctica... cada sala presentaba un cuarto de estar de diferente periodo (organizado por épocas), había un panel informativo donde explicaban el contexto cultural de esa época y el uso que esa habitación había tenido. Para los niños también había un panel especial con explicaciones adaptadas y preguntas y respuestas para hacer más interactiva la visita. Además, en cada habitación había unos paneles individuales como abanicos chinos en los que explicaban la procedencia y composición de cada pieza del mobiliario. Elegimos esta visita cultural porque muchas de las beneficiarias de las clases de inglés acaban de llegar a Londres recientemente y pensamos que sería una buena manera de introducirse en la cultura británica.
